A towering winter mountain is depicted on a silk ground. The mountains amass on the left side of the composition, while a distant peak fills the open space on the right. Though such massive, continuous mountain formations are rare in early Joseon landscape painting, the technique of using dots to suggest tree bark and the detailed architectural renderings reflect stylistic features typical of the early Joseon period. In the foreground, a thatched cottage nestled in a bamboo grove and a boat moored along the riverbank are visible, while a secluded temple appears deep within the mountains at mid-range. The sky is rendered with ink washes, while the snow-covered areas are left unpainted, using blank space to suggest a wintry landscape.
