These paintings are presumed to have originally been part of a folding screen. Each composition leans toward one side, allowing the eight-panel screen to form balanced pairs, with every two panels facing one another to create a sense of symmetry. In Mountain Village in Clearing Mist, the village itself is omitted, and instead, figures are depicted resting in a pavilion or traveling along a path. In Autumn Moon over Lake Dongting, the artist notably replaces Chinese-style structures, such as the Pavilion of Prince Teng, with thatched pavilions and houses, incorporating distinctly Korean motifs. Throughout the work, the artist employs texture strokes of short lines and dots in rendering mountains, rocks, willow trees, and architectural elements—stylistic features characteristic of sixteenth-century landscape painting.
