The painting depicts two lofty scholars engaged in conversation deep in the mountains. Behind one figure, an attendant boy stands holding a staff, while the other scholar is accompanied by a boy preparing tea and a nearby crane. The mountains and cliffs are painted using the axe-cut texture stroke, which emphasizes dramatic contrasts of light and dark. A diagonal composition enhances the spatial depth and creates a strong sense of perspective throughout the scene.
