This collection of three albums includes calligraphy works of Han Ho of his late years. Better known by his pen name Seokbong, he is one of the most renowned calligraphers of the Joseon dynasty. The first and second contain works produced between 1602, when Han retired from his post as magistrate of Gapyeong, and 1604, during his tenure as magistrate of Heupgok. These works are notable for their use of gold on black or indigo paper, showcasing a variety of scripts including regular, semi-cursive, and cursive. The third album features Han’s transcription of the Daoist scripture Scripture on Constant Purity and Stillness (說常淸淨經) in black ink on white paper. This album is considered one of the finest examples of Han Ho’s calligraphy, exemplifying the essence of his mature style.
