Sub-theme1
This work is believed to have been written in the sixth lunar month of 1519 by Kim Gu(1488–1534) for Kwon Beol (1478–1548), who was departing to assume the post of magistrate of Samcheok. In the early sixteenth century, the distinctive cursive script style of Ming China was newly introduced to Joseon, and Kim Gu was among the first calligraphers to adopt and explore this emerging trend. The smooth and vigorous brushwork seen in this piece reflects the stylistic characteristics of cursive script that were actively practiced in Joseon during this period.
