Sub-theme1
This gyehoedo (commemorative gathering painting) was produced to mark the construction of the tomb of Queen Munjeong (1501–1565) in Daebang-dong, Nowon-myeon, Yangju (present-day Gongneung-dong, Seoul) and to commemorate the collaborative efforts of the officials who took part in the project. While typical gyehoedo include a title, a depiction of the gathering, and a list of participants, only the pictorial portion survives of this work, with the title and list now lost. On the left side is an inscription by Hong Seom (1504–1585), notable as the earliest known example of a gyemun (formal written record of the gathering) instead of the more common jesi (commemorative poem).
