Sub-theme1
This is a gyehoedo, a type of painting created to commemorate formal gatherings. It depicts a meeting of officials from the Office of the Censors (Saganwon). At the top of the painting, the title Miwon gyehoedo (薇垣契會圖) is written in seal script, with Miwon serving as an alternative name for the Saganwon. The seven participants include prominent figures, such as Yu In-suk (1485–1545) and Yi Hwang (1501–1570), who are shown seated in official robes according to their rank. The setting is not a depiction of a real location, but rather an idealized landscape painted in the style of An Gyeon. Notably, the painting places greater emphasis on the expansive scenery than on the gathering itself—a characteristic feature of this work.
