These paintings depict wind-blown bamboo and withered bamboo, respectively. The wind-blown bamboo is believed to be a fragment of a larger composition, with the bamboo shooting up from the center in swift, dynamic brushstrokes that convey a sense of speed and vitality. The withered bamboo is rendered with dry, delicate brushwork that captures its slender, desiccated form, depicting bare branches and fallen leaves with remarkable sensitivity. Yi Jeong, a court painter of royal lineage, was especially renowned for his exceptional skill in depicting bamboo.
