Seong Dal-saeng, a military commander in early Joseon, transcribed the Lotus Sutra in memory of his deceased father and had his transcription carved onto woodblocks at Ansimsa Temple. The horizontal frontispiece was printed from a new carving of the original Goryeo drawing. Ansimsa Temple published the Lotus Sutra multiple times in addition to this edition, and their editions were widely circulated and reprinted in temples across the country.
