This book is a Korean translation of the Platform Sutra, which contains records of Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of the Chinese Chan lineage. Queen Dowager Insu, the mother of King Seongjong, oversaw the woodblock printing of its 300 copies. Known for her Buddhist devotion and erudition, she led a multiplicity of projects to publish various Buddhist texts with intentions not only to accumulate merit and commemorate her deceased family members, but also to propagate Buddhist knowledge.
