Sub-theme1
This book contains a variety of dharani incantations compiled by Queen Dowager Insu, the mother of King Seongjong. She annotated those spells with Korean pronunciations. Dharani incantations, comprised of Sanskrit letters or Chinese characters, were difficult for the general population to use effectively. The queen dowager transliterated them into Korean and had them published in the royal scriptorium in 1485. This edition circulated broadly, and several local temples reprinted it.
