King Sejong penned Buddhist lyrics in Korean script to commemorate his deceased wife, Queen Soheon, in the format of telling her the stories of the Buddha. The currently surviving portions do not show the complete scope of this collection, but it is estimated to contain 600 pieces of lyrics. The king personally composed lyrics in the script he invented and had them printed with movable metal types.
