This book is a Korean translation of the records of sermons from the Chan Master Mengshan of Yuan China. As the Seon (Chan in Chinese, Zen in Japanese) school of Buddhism maintained its stronghold in early Joseon, many of the Gangyeongdogam’s projects also included publications of the teachings of such celebrated Seon masters. Their Korean translations were intended to circulate more broadly among Buddhist monks to facilitate their learning.
