This painting depicts an abundance of fully ripened eggplants, with butterflies and dragonflies fluttering around them. The eggplants are placed at the center of the composition, while the insects animate the surrounding space with a sense of movement. Beside the eggplants, wild chrysanthemums and other flowering plants are rendered in pale tones. Larger eggplants appear toward the bottom, with smaller ones higher up, creating a natural sense of depth. The main stem is painted with light ink washes without outlines, while the leaves are outlined with fine brushstrokes to reveal the veins.
