This set of four bird-and-flower paintings, attributed to the early Joseon literati painter Shin Jam, is believed to have originally formed part of a folding screen. In the first panel, a pair of white-eyes perches on branches blooming with plum blossoms and camellias, both commonly used as auspicious motifs. The second panel depicts a pair of ducks leisurely swimming in a pond, set against a backdrop of a scholar’s rock and roses, evoking a serene atmosphere while highlighting the natural beauty of the rock. In the third panel, a pair of long-tailed birds rests on flowering branches, while below, a pair of rabbits appears alongside hibiscus flowers. The fourth panel presents an autumn scene with ripened millet and wild chrysanthemums, accompanied by two pairs of quail.
