Sub-theme1
This stone statue was fashioned by overlaying its surface with gold foil after carving. Its sumptuous decoration with a cylindrical crown delicately designed in the motifs of lotus blossoms and vines, and lavish body ornaments covering the chest, the shoulders, and the back merits attention. The drapes flowing over the bodily contour are also deftly carved. All these features were possible because the statue was smoothly chiseled from soft stone. Some of the soft-stone sculptures from early Joseon still survive.
