Stamping 1in Place of Inlay
Bottle, Buncheong ware with inlaid peony design
  • Joseon Dynasty, first half of 15th century
  • Private Collection

These bottles share the same type and form, with peony rendered as the main motif using plane inlay technique. However, they differ distinctly in the decorative techniques used on the neck, shoulder, and lower body. The bottle on the right employs stamping rather than inlay to decorate these narrower areas. Repeated impressions of identical designs—such as chrysanthemums and lotus petals—exhibit the orderly and refined aesthetic characteristic of the stamping technique.
